Young Voices

The Mayors Civic Service July 2024

We had the absolute pleasure of attending the Mayor of Yeovil's Civic Service, where the Young Voices choir was invited to perform. It was such an honour for the children, and they truly sang their hearts out, leaving the audience in awe. The talent and enthusiasm they displayed made the day unforgettable, creating memories that the children will cherish for years to come! What a fantastic experience!

Young Voices 2023

Recently, our choir of 50 children made the exciting trip to London to take part in the Young Voices concert, joining an incredible 5,000 other kids. Together, we sang alongside the fantastic Heather Small, belting out "Proud." After months of hard work and dedication, it was amazing to see the children's spirits soar as they created lifelong memories. What an unforgettable experience for everyone involved!

YOUNG VOICES 2025 - OVO WEMBLEY

UPDATES COMING SOON!

YOUNG VOICES - OUT & ABOUT

This week, Westlands was privileged to host the Festival of Song, where the exceptional talents of our very own St Michael’s Academy students took centre stage! The atmosphere was electric as our choir filled the halls with their harmonious melodies, leaving the audience utterly captivated.

From heart-wrenching solos that reduced many to tears to lively duets that inspired spontaneous dance moves, the performance was a breathtaking showcase of confidence and passion for music. Each note sung reflected the hard work and dedication of our young musicians, and it was truly a sight to behold!

The highlight of the evening? A proud and beaming Major, who took a moment to share his unwavering love for St Michael’s Academy, expressing how the dedication and talent of our students not only enrich the community but also uplift the spirit of Westlands.

Events like these remind us of the power of music to unite, inspire, and bring joy. 👏 We are incredibly proud of our students and look forward to many more performances that touch the hearts of our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported our young singers on this memorable night! 🌟

Young Voices Members' Cake Sale Success! 🎉🍰

We are absolutely thrilled to share the fantastic news from our Young Voices Members who hosted a scrumptious cake sale to raise funds for an exciting trip to Wembley in 2025! 🏆

Thanks to the incredible support from our school community, we raised enough money to provide the children with torches and a well-deserved KFC meal to enjoy while they are in London. The enthusiasm and generosity shown by parents, teachers, and students alike made this event a resounding success! 🙌

A big THANK YOU to everyone who baked, bought, and contributed to making this cake sale a delightful event! 🌟 Your support not only brings our Young Voices members closer to their musical dreams but also fosters a wonderful sense of community within our school.

Here’s to more sweet initiatives in the future! 🎶❤️

An Evening with Young Voices and Guests

On 18th June 2025, our talented Young Voices took to the stage to entertain a hall packed with proud parents, local residents, and even the mayor! The evening featured a fantastic repertoire of over 20 songs, showcasing the incredible talent these children have developed since the group began in 2022. Many of our young performers had the chance to shine with solos, highlighting their growth in confidence and performance skills.

It was a night filled with joy and celebration, enjoyed by everyone in attendance. Miss Stringer and the Young Voices team, including Mrs Bailes and Ms Powell, could not be prouder of our talented singers. They would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved—parents, friends, and supporters—who made this evening such a tremendous success. Here’s to many more wonderful performances in the future!

Westlands 1st July - Rehearsal resources

Please find attached the two massed songs for the South Somerset Singing Festival. After the success of last year we will be repeating ‘One moment, one people’. This will also mean for many of you there will only be one new massed song to learn.

‘One moment, one people’

Please learn the harmony line which is being sung on the track I have attached. Please ensure the children have listened to and learnt the attached track well enough so they can sing it when other schools sing other parts.

‘Unwritten’

Please learn the soprano line (the harmony) which is being sung on the track I have attached. Please ensure the children have listened to and learnt the attached track well enough so they can sing it when other schools sing other parts.

If you are familiar with the song the verses will be sung by secondary school pupils due to the vocal range so do not need to be learnt.

End of Year - Water Fight and Celebrations

What a fantastic end-of-year party! The laughter echoed as we sang our hearts out and splashed around in a water fight. Kudos to the amazing Mrs Taylor, our resident chef, for whipping up an incredible cake. Great memories were made, and fun was had by all!
