Gore Farm Geography Field Trip

A reminder that Wednesday 7th May is our trip to Gore Farm where we will be looking at the River Yeo. Children should wear clothes that you do not mind getting a little dirty and appropiate shoes - ideally wellies or trainers that again may get muddy. Children should bring a packed lunch, a waterproof jacket, a sun hat and sun cream. We will leave school at 9.30am and will be back by the end of the school day.

Break dancing and Beat Box workshops

The class enjoyed taking part in these fabulous worskshops. Lots of fun had by all.

Reading Lessons

This half-term we are reading War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. A story set in World War 1 told from the horse, Joey's point of view. The children are really enjoying the story so far and creating some wonderful work around it.

Writing Lessons

Children have enjoyed writing their own stories based on Treasure Island. We have been focusing on including setting description and using similes and metaphors. We will also be including direct speech to advance the action.

Poetry Recitals

In Morpurgo Class we are learning poems, children have been given a poem that appears in the book - I Am The Seed That Grew The Tree which has a nature poem for every day of the year. They have been given the poem that appears in the book on their birthday. They now need to learn the poem by heart and practise reciting it. They can add actions if they wish. They will perform these poems to the rest of the class on the last week of this half-term. I look forward to seeing how well they learn and recite them.

Book Clubs

In Morpurgo class we continue with Book Clubs - reading books together in a social way giving children time to chat about the story with friends and discuss what they have enjoyed or anything that has confused them. One group recently read Finding Bear by Hannah Gold and another group has just started The First Kid In Space by Tom Mitchell which so far is really funny.
