Other things we've been up to
Class Assembly
🎤 Class Assembly – Rainforest Performance
This term, the children worked incredibly hard preparing for our class assembly, which showcased everything they have been learning about the rainforest.
To get ready, they:
- Rehearsed their spoken lines with confidence and expression
- Practised the songs linked to our rainforest topic
- Worked together to build a smooth, well‑organised performance
Their commitment and teamwork really shone through, and they should be very proud of how brilliantly they presented their learning to an audience.

World Book Day
📚 World Book Day – “The Thieves of Ostia”
World Book Day was a fantastic celebration of reading and creative learning!
The class explored The Thieves of Ostia, a historical mystery set in Roman times, and took part in a range of themed activities, including:
- Roman Rocky Road baking – combining ingredients inspired by Roman flavours to create a delicious treat.
- Roman mosaics – designing and creating colourful mosaic patterns, just like ancient Roman artisans.
- Diary of a Roman – writing from the perspective of a Roman child, soldier or villager to bring history to life.
- Modern-day Ostia fact files – researching what Ostia is like today and comparing it with its ancient past.
The children thoroughly enjoyed diving into Roman history through reading, writing and hands‑on tasks.

Gore Farm
🌲 Visit to Gore Farm – Exploring Living Things
This term, we also enjoyed a fantastic trip to Gore Farm, where the children were able to deepen their understanding of living things and habitats.
During our visit, the class:
- Explored the forest area, observing a variety of plants, insects and other wildlife
- Compared the woodland habitat to those we have studied in class
- Discussed how different animals and living things depend on one another
- Noted similarities and differences between British woodlands and rainforest ecosystems
The hands‑on experience helped bring our science learning to life, allowing the children to make real‑world connections with the topics of habitats, classification and biodiversity.
Sponsored Walk
🚶♂️ Sponsored Walk to Ninesprings
This term, some of the children took part in a sponsored walk from school to Ninesprings, showing fantastic determination and teamwork along the way. The walk gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, explore local nature, and take pride in completing a physical challenge together.
We are incredibly proud of the children for their effort and enthusiasm. They helped raise money towards a special music activity planned for the end of the year, and their commitment to supporting the event was wonderful to see.
A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored and encouraged them—your support makes these experiences possible!
