What a better way to start our Expression term than a flash mop turning into a fantastic Opera performance during an assembly! The children enjoyed it so much and are still talking about it.
The other highlights for this (short) term were:
Learning all about why Yeovil Town FC are called ‘The Glovers’ and finding out more about Yeovil’s
glove making history. Who knew that Yeovil once was the heart of the UK glove-making industry?
Parts of this history are still visible in buildings around us, which we visited during our Glove Factory walk. Our DT project was all about making gloves ourselves, for most children the first time to use needle and thread.
In English, Rauf class has been producing great work in their different pieces of writing. We wrote an adaption to an existing story, a persuasive letter to reopen the Octagon and an explanation text all about the Industrial Revolution.
Our class text was James and the Giant Peach, which we really enjoyed reading and using different voices for all the characters. The children even created a new character and wrote an introduction about it.
In Science, we’ve been learning all about sound by doing experiments and even talking to each other through string telephones!
March 2026
World book day!
February 2026
We had a visit from Sam from Wessex Water telling us all about the importance of water and how to save water!
Your child might suggest some ideas to you so be prepared!
It was wonderful to see how much the children remembered about the water cycle.

Year 4 had a great visit from Adam Dance in the beginning of February. They asked him questions about what he is doing to fix the sewage problem in Yeovil and surrounding areas. They learnt that he is going to Parliament to discuss making sewage companies not put sewage into our rivers as it harms us and the environment!
It was so nice to have somebody to come into school and talk about a subject we're working on.

This term we are focussing on 'Where would you find a rainforest?' and with cross curriculum task we will find out the answer to this big question.
We are also looking into States of Matter and love acting out how the molecules behave of the 3 different states.
Lots of cross-curriculum work has been done on the water cycle in Science/Geography/English, from creating our own rainforest/water cycle in a bag to creating an informative leaflet all about the wonderful water cycle.
Class assembly time!
We are busy (again) with rehearsing for our class assembly on Integrity and looking forward seeing you on the 6th February.
November 2025
Panto Time!
We are very busy with rehearsing for our yearly panto, this time we bring you Aladdin Trouble!
A panto like no other full of jokes and great acting. We are looking forward showing our skills
on the 10th of December.
During our Respect week, we have learnt more about what it takes for a bill to become a law and we wrote a letter to our local MP for an update on the dumping of raw sewage which prevent us from using beaches. We are hoping for a response and hopefully a visit from Adam Dance to our school again.
We've started our new book, The Girl Who Stole An Elephant by Nirzana Farook and we are very excited about this story so far.
A story set on Sri Lanka with a very brave girl as the main character.

October 2025
The children are really enjoying our first whole term book 'The Thieves of Ostia'
which links nicely to our Roman history topic.

September 2025
In History, our big question this term is 'What did the Romans do for us?".
We are enjoying finding out the answer to this question step by step.
So far we know that the Romans conquered Britain in AD43
and started constructing buildings after they decided to stay!

In English, we've been doing work based on the book Stuck by Oliver Jeffers.
The children enjoyed learning this entertaining story and making their own version of Stuck.

We had a great first day and the children have settled in well!
We've learnt about our class author Onjali Rauf and started reading The Great Food Bank Heist,
which the children enjoyed so far. We will be doing more work based on this story and create
a lovely display for in the main hall in the coming days.
