Music

🥁 Hip Hop

In Music, we explored the genre of Hip Hop, learning about its origins, key features, and how it can be used to share ideas and emotions. This linked perfectly with our PRIDE Week value of Expression, allowing pupils to discuss how music can give people a voice.

We were also extremely lucky to enjoy a visit from an opera group, exposing the children to a completely different musical style. This experience encouraged them to think about music diversity and performance.

RE

✝️ Christianity

In RE, we returned to our learning about Christianity, with a focus on stories from the Old Testament. The children explored important stories and discussed what messages and values they might teach believers today.

Class discussions showed respectful listening and thoughtful reflection as pupils considered themes such as faith, trust, and guidance.

History

🏛️ Gloving

Our History topic centred around the question:
“Why is Yeovil Town FC called The Glovers?”

The children learned about Yeovil’s history and its strong connection to the gloving industry. To bring this learning to life, we:

  • Took a local area walk to identify old gloving factories and buildings
  • Welcomed a visitor from the Community Heritage Access Centre, who brought fascinating artefacts and shared expert knowledge about gloving in Yeovil

This hands‑on approach helped pupils understand the importance of local history and how industries shape communities.
