The final stories were imaginative, spooky, and full of brilliant vocabulary!
📝 Writing a Balanced Argument – Deforestation
This term, the children have also been learning how to write a balanced argument linked to our rainforest topic. They explored the issue of deforestation, looking carefully at both sides of the debate.
They discussed and researched:
- Reasons why deforestation happens, such as farming, logging and land use
- The impact on animals, people and the environment, including the loss of habitats and threats to indigenous communities
- Arguments for protecting rainforests and sustainable ways people can use forest resources
- Counter‑arguments showing why some communities and industries rely on the rainforest for income
Using this knowledge, the children wrote their own balanced arguments, presenting different viewpoints clearly before giving their own well‑reasoned conclusions. They worked hard to use persuasive language, connectives and formal sentence structures.
